Ms. Paul has substantial experience in drafting and negotiating the various contracts involved in the real estate design and construction process, including the American Institute of Architects ("AIA") contract documents and forms, the most widely used standard form documents in the design and construction industry.
She routinely advises clients in structuring, drafting and negotiating a broad array of standard and specialized construction contracts, including design, cost-plus, guaranteed maximum-price and lump-sum contracts as well as engineering, procurement and construction contracts for a wide variety of projects, analyzing and discussing in detail key provisions related to timing, performance standards, delay damages, indemnity and insurance requirements.
She understands the commercial requirements of owners and contractors and the key risk allocation issues for construction projects. She also understands the importance of defining rights, responsibilities and expectations up front in the construction contract to reduce risks during and after project construction and to minimize potential disputes later in the project.
